About
My teaching style is student led. I want my students, no matter what their age, to be here because I am helping them acheive their goals. I will never ask a student to do something without telling them how this task bring them closer to their goals. I will also never tell them what their goal should be. I want every one to share my love of music, and that is best cultivated within rather than forced upon a child.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We meet for a free "lesson" where the student can show me what he or she already knows. We talk about why they want to study music, and what their goals are. We talk about what I offer and what I expect from the student.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing music for 24 years, and teaching for 13 years. I've studied piano at the university level, and have worked for a multiple studios before opening my own. I also have been serving as an accompanist for 16 years and have extensive experience with ensembles and soloists of all ages and abilities.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
30 min lesson : $20
45 min lesson : $30
60 min lesson : $40
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had students from 5 years old through late middle age, and of a variety of abilities.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
If you are looking for a teacher for your child, the most important thing is that the teacher understands working with children. Even if they are an accomplished concert pianist, if they don't have solid teaching skills, you child will not make much progress and may not enjoy it. My day job is working for the local school district, and I absolutely love children. I also have taken time to specifically study teaching techniques in addition to just knowing how to play the piano (though I'm really good at that too if I do say so myself)
If you are looking for yourself, look for someone who will listen to your goals and not pressure you into paths that don't interest you because "that's how it's done and teacher knows best..." Yes, technique and theory and classical skills can unlock a lot of doors, but if they aren't doors you want to go through, you are wasting your time and money.
