I get them playing songs they enjoy from the beginning. No boring scales or music theory in the beginning unless they want to). That will come when they can play a few songs and I'll explain the theory then.
I love teaching students who want to learn. Music is so part of the human spirit and playing music is magical. I highly encourage my students to get to the level to play in a band

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I get them to envisage by teaching them to play a simple song (typically classic rock) so they will be encouraged to continue.

Musician major in college. Studied Music Education. Played in working bands for many years.

No. I will work with them depending on the frequency. 1st lesson free.

I've been a musician all my life. Studied music in college. Taught my son how to play.
