About
My lessons are focused on showing students of any age, that they can have a lifetime of enjoyment out of playing an instrument or possibly even land a job with a working band ... if that's a goal.
I take the lessons further than just teaching the basic scales (guitar) or rudiments (drums) of the instrument(s) by showing students how to apply those elements into daily playing ... real world applications ... as every musician does. They're the foundation of playing music.
Playing music is FUN and it's something that can be with an individual for their entire life ! Music is a huge part of who I am ... it's something I will always have as a part of me and a passion I really enjoy sharing with my students.
I have been teaching music, on and off, for well over 30 years in both Canada and the US. At this stage of that journey, I've found that face-to-face, in person lessons are typically the best way to go. Hence, I don't offer an online service (Zoom, Google Meets, Skype, etc.). I travel to my student's homes (within a 10 mile radius of Downtown Summerlin) for their lessons. I don't have a requirement to purchase a "block" of lessons and maintain a flexible schedule allowing for changes (myself or the student) up to 24 hours prior. Students must have their own instruments.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My teaching process begins by discussing with the student (and/or his/her parents), what their goals on the instrument are. Once that is determined, we develop a lesson plan that will help them achieve those goals, but stay within the realm of keeping it fun and interesting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have played music professionally for 35+ years and have taught privately, on and off during that time.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
For children between the ages of 8 and 13, I recommend a 30 minute lessons. However, each child is different and I am always open to discussing this with parents, based on the child's interest level.
Rates listed below are per student and the student(s) must reside within a 10 mile radius of Downtown Summerlin (a common landmark, close to my residence). Groups rates for 3 or more students are available. Please contact me to discuss this option further.
RATES:
Per student (all ages):
$30 / 30 minutes
$45 / 45 minutes
$60 / 60 minutes
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students of all ages ... from beginner to experienced players. Each level brings it's own rewards for me as a teacher. Working with students ... regardless of age or skill level ... that want to reach a point of being able to play something recognizable (this is more specific to guitar than drums) and get enjoyment out of playing, is what it's all about !!!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Talk to the prospective teacher and make sure that your goals are aligned with the teacher's lessons.
I like to think of it this way ... If you simply wanted to get into good physical shape, you probably wouldn't hire a personal trainer that looked like "Hulk Hogan". You're better off hiring a trainer that looks the way you want to look. It's a pretty simple thought, but the logic applies to music lessons too.
