About

Music has always been my getaway. I started playing when I was thirteen years old. Only difference is that I didn't have lessons. I got into teaching about two years ago, because I know how hard it can be to try and teach yourself. I have met many people who have quit just because they had to teach themselves but couldn't get it. So that's where I came in. Offered them lessons so they could get a second chance at playing and learning. My biggest goal is to teach an amazing skill and to show the importance of fine arts. I focus on metal/rock music, but also play acoustic. I took 4 years of music theory in high school and 1 year of music theory in college, I was in guitar ensemble and my schools top choir. Not only do I give lessons, I also teach a little bit of theory with my lessons because it helps give a better understanding of what your playing and a better understanding of your instrument. I will take as much time as a student needs for them to get something down, by going over it with then over and over again, giving tips, and just being supportive. Never get discouraged. It's an extremely hard skill to learn and it will take a lot time and effort to make progress. But, I will be there every step up the way.

Frequently asked questions

Typically I will ask the student what their goals are, what they want to achieve, and the style of music they want to play. Based off of their answers I can come up with a lesson plan that is specifically for them. I set things up with the student and usually the first day is going through the basics and techniques. Also, I like to watch them play first so I can get an idea of where they are at.

I took four years of music theory in high school, one year of music theory in college, guitar ensemble, and my schools top choir.

It's only $30/hr or $20 for a half hour. If a student wants to go longer than an hour. I only charge an extra $10/hr.

I got started teaching back in high school. When I was in my music theory class, I would assist my music teacher with the students in a lower level music class. But, I started giving guitar lessons two years ago.

I have worked with all age groups, but mainly with young adult/teenagers. All of my students were at different playing levels, so it was fun to watch them grow and progress into a better player.

A couple of months ago I had a student finally get to where they wanted to be and formed a band. They gave me the biggest thank you and were in tears. It felt amazing to see a student progress to the point that I got to see them finally chase their dream of playing in a band.

Look into the style of music you want to play. Depending on the style, you then go search for a teacher that plays that specific style. Because, that means that's what they focus on and that is the teacher's expertise.

A student should really think about whether or not they want a teacher and if the student decides that a teacher is needed, they can search for a teacher that fits what they want to do and then look at pricing.
