Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I check to see if the student is brand new to the piano or if they have played the piano before. I have them play at least 2 songs that they've played before. I check to see how they're playing and which areas they may lack in. If it's a new student, I start them in the Faber books. We start from level 1 to level 10.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been playing the piano for 21 years and I've been teaching for more than 6 years. I've taught many students and I currently have more than 20 students in my piano studio. I also have my students compete in piano competitions or test in levels to be certified.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing for lessons is $25 for 30 minutes of lessons, $30 for 45 minutes of lessons, and $40 for 1 hour of lessons. I include all books and 2 recitals a year free of charge.
How did you get started teaching?
I began teaching when I turned 20. I was preach classically trained in the piano and I was also playing the double bass. I only had one student at the time and through much marketing, I grew my studio to 30-40 students. Much of my happiness comes from watching my students succeed and able to play the piano. I make sure that my students are well-knowledged about everything related to the piano.
What types of students have you worked with?
I currently teach younger students, but I have taught adults also. I've also taught students with disabilities. All students are great and they are all capable of learning!
