Piano And Accordion Lessons

As a tutor, I have had a number of piano and accordion students of a variety of ages and abilities.

I also work as an accompanist for a community choir, playing at regular rehearsals and performances.

Teaching Style

I am flexible with my teaching style according to what the student is looking to get out of having lessons. My aim is to teach students to teach themselves because that is the key to successful practice between lessons. I achieve this through thoughtful development of technique and general musical understanding.

I encourage students to develop their musical ear through improvising and aural training. I feel it is important for students to have a good understanding of the historical background of the repertoire that they are learning and can recommend listening to help with this.

I am able to teach from my home in Spring Valley, where students are able to make use of my Yamaha upright piano. I can also travel to my students if we negotiate prices first.
