Russell Woo Piano Studio
About
A graduate (MA, piano performance) from the Royal Academy of Music, I focus on teaching intermediate and advanced piano students. Working with them on challenging repertoire to set and achieve their artistic vision for their performance, piano lessons are intended to be a combination of interpretation and technique, and last at minimum 45 minutes.
As a teacher, I aim to connect with the student's specific learning style to customize a plan that devleops them as a performer and an artist.
As a teacher, I love seeing students grow their love for music, and one of my favorite parts of the job is watching them become more confident with approaching a new piece of music on their own.
I also enjoy helping students broaden the ways that they think about performing music, helping them find their personality and storytellign style.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I host a free short consultation lesson with a new student to test the rapport between student and teacher.
During this lesson, we work through a pre-prepared piece of music: discussing the intention behind the piece, listening to the student perform the piece, and walking through specific corrections (technical, phrasing, etc.). I follow this by a short interview with the student (and, as necessary, the parent) to understand their goals as a musician and artist.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Masters of Arts in Piano Performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London, England
