About
I work on creating a resonant and freely produced sound throughout all the registers. My goal is to promote healthy vocal technique while having full engagement in a song. I believe that singing is about conveying your emotion, your engagement, and your character's situation to the audience. Once your voice is lined up with great technique, your true voice will begin to surface with an increased vocal range, resonance, and heightened flexibility. You will explore who YOU are as a singer and discover what repertoire works best for you. I'd love to hear more about your goals as a performer and how we can work together to help you achieve those goals!
I am passionate about connecting students to their own unique voice through discovering the relationship between the body, the brain, vocal discipline, and personal expression. I love helping my students to achieve their goals!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
My students and I talk about their long-term goals from our first lesson. I always ensure that they can see the big picture that I can see, and our lessons are never only about improving the song or scene that they are working on in the lesson. I try to help my students see the connection between improving their performance techniques and preparation practices and their long-term improvement as a performer. By emphasizing this aspect of our lessons, I believe that my students are able to focus both on what is in front of them for that week and the goals that we want to achieve together in the future.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a vocal teacher and coach who specializes in classical voice techniques and singing for musical theater. In my lessons, I focus on helping students understand how to prepare a character and a situation for every song they sing while paying close attention to phrasing, diction, breath support, and musicality. I also teach acting lessons and coach monologues for musical theater. I have tutored in college-level music theory and music history. While I was pursuing my B.A at NYU, I performed in leading roles in operas such as Le Nozze di Figaro while continuing to perform in community productions such as You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown at local theaters. As I pursued my Master’s degree, I took private lessons from Grammy-winning opera singers such as Eduardo Chama, all while continuing to sing and perform locally. My education in music has taught me to value the relationship between instructor and student, as I know that I learned best when I felt that my instructor was committed to my improvement as a singer.

How did you get started teaching?
While at Rutgers University I started teaching non-music majors. I found that I really enjoyed and looked forward to teaching each week. From then on I knew I wanted to keep sharing my techniques and habits for singing with others.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have students that range from age 4 to 65! I work with levels ranging from beginner to professional.
