Dedimus Potestatem
About
Amanda has been teaching students of all ages for over ten years. Before becoming a teacher she held a leadership position in a number of different industries and found that her passion lay in the motivation and empowerment of individuals and groups. Amanda has worked on political campaigns, with activist collectives, with NGO's and NPO's, with private corporate clients and schools in NY and NJ.
Amanda has taught at Hackley Preparatory, Leman Preparatory School, the Packer Collegiate School, the Resurrection Episcopal Day School, The Hewitt School, The Hudson School and more. Amanda also teaches private in home classes for students from Dalton, Hunter, St. Bernard's, Horace Mann, The Riverdale Country School and Chapin.
While attending college Amanda took particular interest in Psychology, Philosophy and Sociology. These subjects instilled in her the importance of cultural differences, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills which have been invaluable to her in her years of networking and leadership. Amanda taught a variety of subjects while in school and fell in love with the rewards that came with being an educator. She continued to teach after graduating and has employed her skills as an orator for various companies, charities, Presidential and Congressional campaigns.
Amanda has trained under Dr. Daniel Shapiro (Founder of the Harvard International Program on Negotiation) at the Harvard Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School and at the Institute for Personal Leadership at Columbia Business School. She will be attending Oxford in the summer of 2018 to study International Politics. Her aim in founding Dedimus Potestatem is that on a person to person basis she may help people discover the joy and freedom that comes with the empowerment of the self and, consequently, the empowerment of others.
I love empowering students of all ages.
