About
I am a composer and performer with over 30 years professional experience.
I give private lessons for beginner and intermediate piano players.
I use a tried and true classically structured lesson plan, as well as divise lessons catering specifically to a student's individual musical needs and tastes.
I also teach improvisation, music composition, songwriting, and basics of musical theory.
I teach in my Park Slope home. I also travel to teach students in their homes in the Brooklyn/Park Slope vicinity.
I also lead choirs and mentor classes to create and perform their own original operas in public schools.
I also speak German fluently.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
We will together assess their current playing level and musical goals.
If a beginner, we will start lessons that in a practical step by step approach introducing and building up finger placement, note reading and musicianship. The ability to play and read musical scores is holistically taught at the same time.
We start with a ground level classical foundation, and include musical pieces and styles of particular interest to the student as soon as possible in our lessons together.
Improvisation, composition, songwriting, devising arrangements, and mentoring a variety of musical projects can be included too, depending on the individual student's needs.
