About

I am happy to travel to teach my students! They must have a piano to practice on between lessons, and if it's a digital one it needs to have 88 keys, weighted keys, and preferably pedals.

I love teaching - there's nothing more inspiring to me than watching a student start without any knowledge of the piano, and evolving into someone who can play with joy and confidence.

My young son and I had the good fortune to become piano students of virtuoso concert pianist Judy Kameny. Kind, patient and versatile, she is clearly skilled at teaching all ages.
Using the traditional classical teaching method, Judy not only taught us how to play the piano but instilled in us a true understanding of theory, the “bones”, so to speak, of the pieces we were playing.
For an unforgettable, rewarding learning experience I highly recommend Judy. She gave my son and me the gift of music and a love of playing the piano.

    Frequently asked questions

My approach is for classical piano. I always try to customize the lessons to the student's particular abilities. I start very gradually with simple textbooks and flash cards, and I find that using these methods, it doesn't take long for students to begin playing actual pieces of repertoire.

I have an undergraduate degree in music from Columbia, as well as a Master's in piano from the University of Louisville. I have taught piano at SUNY Albany; in Appleton, Wisconsin, and in Louisville, Kentucky, where I had a graduate assistantship in piano. In addition, I've taught at various music camps for students of all levels. I'm an active performer, and I have played in recitals all over the United States.

I charge for an hour-long lesson, and I travel to the piano studio. I charge by the month, to be paid in advance.

I have always wanted to teach! I started working as a full-time volunteer teacher when I was a teenager.

    All types, all abilities!

Playing piano at a music festival near Tanglewood with like-minded musicians. I am forever grateful to be able to play the piano in ensembles, and I hope this is something my students will eventually be able to enjoy doing as well.

Consistency and efficiency in practice are more important than length of practice.

What they are required to do between lessons for practice, and what materials they will need, including the instrument itself.
