Since 2008, Rhythm NY and Apollo Institute have served its community as a valuable cultural resource for anyone who has interest in music. We believe opportunity to enjoy listening and playing music should be readily available to anyone. We strive to provide artistic guidance to our students that they can ultimately become proficient musician, subsequently evaluating and improving on their own.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I usually use Alfred lesson book and note speller for the beginner and Suzuki method for advanced-intermediate students. I can also teach chord improvisation for pop or gaspel songs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to Teachers College, Columbia University and got MA degree (Music Education).
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
$30/30mins, $40/45 lesson if they come to me. I charge $20 home visit fee if I have to visit my student's house.
How did you get started teaching?
My mom owns a music school in S. Korea for 40 years. She influenced me to become a music teacher.
What types of students have you worked with?
All ages from 4 and up, including autistic students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We help students to prepare for the upcoming music tests (NYSSMA,ABRSM, etc).
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Practice!! I know it sounds boring, but this is the only way to improve.
