How did you get started teaching?
I was born and raised to lead, train and teach others though I received the proper education, knowledge and training I started acutally teaching others as a passion as a youth, but as profession at 18yrs old. It was my calling.
What types of students have you worked with?
A very diverse variety of people being born and raised in New York and travelling as a professional dancer then choreographer, and producer I worked with all nationalites english speaking and non english speaking the one universal language is DANCE it speaks loud!
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
All of my events I am very fond of I love working with people who truly want to expand their minds and evolve in our culture and learn it properly. I teach all styles of dance but specializing in styles is what I mastered the ability to reach others through dance and all styles and StreetDance is one that allows people to express themselves and truth be written all over the style delivery and technique that should be properly executed. Taught properly can only be given by facts and truth. Knowledge is power used wisely.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
RESEARCH! Make sure you are getting what you pay for and when you research see if they teach for them or for education of other properly. Anybody can teach a hot new move but can they teach you where that move came from how to deliver, execute and where it should go? Meaning the purpose, foundation of the step or move taught? Along how your body should intake this information to deliver it through your understanding of that move. Think Smart, stop looking for trend but look for quality not quanity meaning not how many people are doing the same thing but who is teaching it properly the way it was intended to be taught.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Why do you teach? What is the difference in Jazz and streetdance? Is breakdance a form of hip hop? What makes you an expert on this style? Do you have footage and bio or epk I can review? How many years you been teaching? What is the difference between Hip Hop and StreetDance? These are things they should know without a thought process or a blink of an eye.
