Welcome to Fan Zhang Piano!
After 8 years of teaching at Capital University as Adjunct Piano Faculty, I have recently moved to Saline Michigan, to continue offer private lessons to Ann Arbor, Saline and Ypsilanti areas.
I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan, Master of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University, and Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Capital University.
As a member of Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) for many years, I had extensive study of Piano Pedagogy and over 10 years of professional teaching experiences at both universities and private studios.
I work with students at a variety of ages, abilities and levels in private lessons, group classes, student recitals and local music programs and competitions. Past students have achieved high scores in various music programs, such as SAT Michigan, Music Development Program, etc..

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I contact prospect students and students parents to schedule a FREE consultive session through message, email or phone. At the consultive session, I learn about students and answer any questions they might have, and offer a short trial lesson.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching for more than 20 years. Formerly I was on piano faculty at Capital University, Columbus, OH for 8 years. In the past, I have worked as a Graduate Student Instructor at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI from August 2012 to December 2015 and an Assistant Instructor at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN from August 2010 to May 2012. I have been teaching privately since 2006 in Columbus OH, Bloomington IN, Ann Arbor MI, now back to Columbus. I hold a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from University of Michigan; Master of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University; Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Capital University.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with students at all ages and various levels, ranging from 5 years old to 50 years old, from children to undergraduate students as non-music majors and music majors.
I have also worked with students with disabilities.
