Hi there! I’m Grace, and I run Grace’s Piano Studio in Fort Wayne—a welcoming, encouraging space where kids can build confidence, grow their love of music, and feel proud of what they’re learning.

Since 2008, I’ve helped students of all ages—from excited beginners to committed teens—develop strong musical skills and a deep sense of accomplishment. Some continue on to study music in college, while others simply enjoy the creative outlet and personal growth that piano brings.

Lessons at my studio are thoughtfully paced, fun, and designed to keep students feeling motivated and supported. Parents stay informed through tools that make practice easier to manage and help you clearly see how your child is progressing.

Families also appreciate the sense of community here. Students feel like they’re part of something meaningful—where their efforts are noticed and celebrated, and where they can be inspired by others along the way.

We offer flexible summer options, virtual lessons, and are proud to accept Indiana ESA funding.

If you’re looking for a positive, goal-oriented learning environment where your child can thrive, I’d love to connect with you!

Grace taught me piano for a long time. She is a fun teacher, and she makes sure the student is learning and playing piano the right way. Grace is also a very good piano player, and everyone loves it when she plays the Hallelujah Chorus! She wants her students to have fun with the piano and not regard things as hard, even if the level may be difficult to learn. Grace loves piano, and everyone loves Grace! 😏

Exceptionally talented, energetic and encouraging teacher. Helps you set and achieve goals. If you want to learn from a great sight reader who has also trained in classical and gospel genres and has played in several different types of settings, this is the one!

Grace is an amazing piano teacher! Not only does she teach many different things and in variety, but she also makes sure that you have the skills to become a great piano teacher. Theory, Classical, Gospel and Church Music are just some of the different types she will help you with. She also will make sure that everything she teaches you is for your particular needs. And, to top all of that, she is not one of those plain piano teachers who tell you what to do and then leave. She is very upbeat and encouraging!! Definitely not a bleh teacher. I took lessons from her for at least 5 years, and she is the best piano teacher I have ever had!! I highly, and I mean, very highly, recommend her as your teacher.

Not only is Grace is talented and knowledgeable enough in music and the piano to teach advanced piano students, but she is also warm and inviting even to young beginners. She has a winning personality that makes piano lessons something to look forward to, and she has the gift of motivating her students to want to accomplish a lot! I especially appreciate that Grace has the ability to be very encouraging on the one hand while holding her students to the standard of their abilities on the other. I recommend her to students of all ages and ability levels. She is the best piano teacher we have ever had!

    Frequently asked questions

My process with new students is all about helping them feel comfortable, excited, and supported from the start. We begin with a conversation—either by message or phone—so I can learn more about your child, your goals, and what kind of learning experience you're looking for. I’ll share what I offer and help you decide whether my studio is a good fit. Once you're ready to begin, I’ll walk you through registration and get your first lesson scheduled. In the first few weeks, I focus on building trust, introducing important foundations, and discovering how your child learns best. I pay close attention to their interests, attention span, and learning pace so I can tailor lessons accordingly. Parents stay involved every step of the way. I use a practice tool that lets you see what we’re working on, how to help at home, and what progress your child is making—all in one place. From there, lessons grow with your child. I adjust goals and materials as they progress so they stay motivated, feel proud of their progress, and genuinely enjoy learning music.
I’ve been teaching piano since 2008 and have worked with students from their very first lesson all the way through advanced levels and college music preparation. Over the years, I’ve developed a well-rounded approach that combines strong technique and theory with creativity, fun, and real-world application. My teaching is shaped by years of hands-on experience, continued study in piano pedagogy, and a deep understanding of how kids learn best. I’ve designed my own programs, arranged music to match student interests, and helped many students stay motivated long-term—some even pursuing music professionally. I’m passionate about helping each student build lasting skills and confidence, whether they’re learning for fun or aiming for high-level goals.
Tuition is charged monthly and includes not only weekly lessons, but also access to our engaging practice tools, all music books and materials, and participation in studio events like recitals. Please message me for current availability and rates—I’m happy to walk you through options and help you find the best fit for your child.
I started teaching piano back in 2008, almost by accident! A few families in my community knew I played and asked if I’d teach their kids—and I fell in love with it. I realized how much joy there is in helping a child feel proud of what they can do, and how music can be a powerful tool for building confidence, focus, and creativity. What began as a few lessons quickly grew into something much bigger, and over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of students grow musically and personally through piano.
Over the years, I’ve had the joy of working with all kinds of students—shy beginners, high-energy kids, focused teens, kids who love to perform, and kids who’d rather learn quietly at their own pace. Some come in already playing songs by ear, while others are starting from scratch. I’ve worked with students who take lessons just for fun and others who go on to pursue music in high school, college, and beyond. No matter where they start, my goal is to help each student feel successful, stay motivated, and enjoy the journey.
One of my favorite recent moments was our spring recital. Watching students of all ages step up to perform—with excitement, nerves, and so much pride—was such a beautiful reminder of why I love teaching. Some students had been preparing their pieces for weeks, while others surprised even themselves with how far they’d come. What made it even more special was the sense of support in the room—parents cheering, siblings clapping, and students encouraging each other. I love creating those kinds of moments where kids feel proud of their progress and part of something bigger.
If you’re looking for a piano teacher, I always encourage parents to look for someone who creates an environment where their child feels comfortable, motivated, and truly seen. A good teacher will have musical knowledge, of course—but just as importantly, they’ll know how to connect with your child, set age-appropriate goals, and make learning feel fun and doable. Ask how the teacher keeps kids engaged, how they communicate with parents, and whether they offer a clear path for growth. Look for someone who values progress but doesn’t rush it—who can celebrate your child’s strengths while helping them build new ones at their own pace. And trust your instincts! If your child is excited after the first few lessons, feels encouraged, and wants to keep going—that’s a great sign you’ve found the right fit.
Before starting lessons, it helps for students (and parents) to think through a few questions: What are you hoping to get out of piano lessons? (Is it just for fun, to build a strong foundation, or to pursue serious musical goals down the line?) Do you already have a piano or keyboard at home? (If not, are you open to getting one soon?) What kind of music do you enjoy? (Classical, pop, movie themes, worship, video game soundtracks—this helps your teacher personalize your experience.) How much time can you realistically spend practicing during the week? (Even a little goes a long way, but it’s good to be honest from the start.) Do you work better with lots of structure, or a more relaxed style of learning? Are there any learning preferences or needs you’d like your teacher to know about? Thinking through these questions can help you find a teacher who’s a great fit—and make your lessons more enjoyable and meaningful from day one!
