Westlake Music Academy
About
The Westlake Music Academy provides quality music instruction in piano, guitar, classical guitar, voice, violin, cello, flute, drums, bass and ukulele.
The director, James Flood, has 30 years teaching experience and has his bachelor's and master's degrees in guitar. All teachers at Westlake Music Academy (WMA) have at least a bachelor's degree in their respective instrument. WMA believes that being an accomplished musician is not enough to teach; one must have the talent and skills of teaching itself. Teaching is an entirely different skill set. WMA teachers are gifted and devoted as teachers and seek to hone their craft as teachers.
At WMA, we look for the goals of the student, and lay out a plan so the student can reach those goals. We believe in laying foundation in the fundamentals of technique on one's instrument and general music skills, as this foundation best enables to the student to reach his or her fullest potential.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
First we find out why the student wants to take lessons. What has captured their imagination. This helps us to set up a plan for helping them reach their goals. If the student already has experience playing the instrument on which they're taking lessons, we will assess what needs to be wroked on and develop a plan with the student.
