Sue L. says, "People may have many teachers in their lives but few encounter an exceptional one such as Sandra Shapiro. Her music background & repertoire in piano opened up the world of music for me. I have been fortunate to have been able to study with her. I met her when my daughter begged to take piano lessons. When Vicki realized that you had to practice and refused to continue, I asked if Sandra would teach me. I had taken lessons from elementary school through high school. I could read music. She agreed To include me as one of her pupils & has done so ever since. At the same time over the years I had been helping to hire coaches for the figure skating clubs I belonged to. Teaching the two groups require similar methods and abilities to help students progress. I was able to see how much better Sandra was at doing this, Sandra communicates very well with students giving clear instructions as to how to practice which if followed lead to accomplishment(it took me a while to get this). She definitely has a plan in mind as to what she wants the student to be headed. Her knowledge of the times of the music and the musicians made it more interesting and added to the enjoyment of it. She spent time looking for music for her individual students which worked well for me. At one point I broke my left thumb which left me unable to practice. Sandra found music for the right-handed player (there are several). I have always enjoyed music but because Sandra has taught me so much more than just reading notes I can enjoy it more." Read more

Nick gave piano lessons to our daughter for several years. His patience and kindness made it always a pleasure to go to lessons. He always listened to our daughter's musical interests, and helped her select beautiful pieces to learn, that would challenge her, but also be within her reach.
