Our New Student Application helps us understand your experience as well as scheduling preferences to streamline the process. Once we know what to expect, we'll get started by meeting you at your skill level and create a custom curriculum centered around your musical goals. Every student is different, so you decide the pace of your learning—the more energy you apply to learning, the faster you'll excel!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor of Music Arts from Oral Roberts University
Music Director of Transformation Church (2014-2016)
Over 20 years of playing experience
Over 10 years of teaching experience
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
Our going rate is $50 per hour. Based on a student's skill level and pace of learning, the lessons can also be broken down into a minimum of (2) 30 minute sessions per week or extended to include more lessons weekly.
How did you get started teaching?
As the eldest sibling in my family, I honestly feel like I've been teaching since I've been able to speak! However, growing up and learning the basics of guitar in school, I always seemed to grasp music quickly and naturally found myself tutoring classmates. From this, I began to fall in love with the sense of accomplishment that comes from helping others succeed. I eventually took note of this in college and began seriously pursuing teaching, the rest is history!
What types of students have you worked with?
Our students are wide in variety. We've worked with students ranging from ages 8 to 60. We've also helped students with various aspirations, such as: genre, technique, theory, performance, and scholastic specific goals. Whatever your dream is, no matter your age, we are committed to help you become the musician that can achieve it.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
A student of mine recently posted a video of her playing a song she wrote. Knowing the skill level she started at and the confidence she lacked months before provided me a huge surge of joy and a massive sense of pride. Because of my contribution to her life, she was able to express herself confidently and creatively through her instrument!
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Come hungry and ready to work. Personally, I'm not interested in teaching someone who won't put in the work to become what they claim they want. Hiring a teacher does not guarantee your success or growth, but the amount of effort you put into the process of learning will.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Communication of your needs is all that matters. We can sort out translation as we go, but when you need an answer to a question or clarity on something please don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to help and encourage you along the way.
