About

My teaching approach:

I have lived and taught guitar in India, Australia, & the US. I teach students the very basics first and then go to the songs they like and teach them on how to read guitar tabs and how to improvise, even with simple chords, when jamming out with friends, girlfriends, band mates, or a random encounter with a street musician (who mostly are highly talented artists) playing some instrument outside a cafe. My personal preference on guitar is a Les Paul. I love the heaviness and the sound of it. I have in the past used Logic Pro to record music and on a smaller scale Garage Band.

My influences are:

Guns N' Roses, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Killers, Beatles, Jack Johnson, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley...I think I can keep on going but as I mentioned before, and you can most likely see, that if the music sounds good, has a meaning and connects with me, I'm influenced by it. Every one should have that connection with some artist or band.

My guitar lessons take place in:

The teacher's studio or the student's home

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

Quite flexible depending on availability or prior appointments.

Guitar Techniques:

Rhythm guitar, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Scales and Exercises

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I would definitely first like to know if the student has any prior experience. Either way I would go through the basics of the guitar, it's anatomy and what can be expected in the following sessions. I would then like to see how the student approaches the guitar lessons. The introductory lesson would be just that ~ introductory. It will be more of, for the lack of a better word, theory with some hands on experience on handling the guitar. It helps to see how committed, patient and passionate the student is.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

A typical session would be reviewing prior lessons and answering any questions or repeating and teaching techniques taught before to clarify any hindrances a student might be experiencing. Also, at the end of the lesson a small jam session to keep the fire alive.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

Someone who is serious, regardless of what motivates them, and has their heart in learning how to play the guitar. Patience is also key.
