About
Hello! I am a violinist with over 20 years of performing experience and ten years of teaching experience. I have had the opportunity over the years to study with many brilliant teachers who have passed on their tools and philosophies to me. I have also in turn taught many students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, from beginners to self-taught to those preparing for collegiate auditions. I work with 20+ students each week, both online and in-person. I offer private lessons for beginners through advanced violin, and beginner ukulele.
My goal in teaching is to enable students to become critical thinkers and gain confidence in their playing. As often as possible, I involve the student in music-making decisions. Playing music is a creative endeavor. It's important that the process of learning music is enjoyable and stimulates the mind.
At the same time, I am passionate about providing training in the fundamentals of technique so that students can experience true ease of playing. My aim is to give my students the tools they need to succeed in their own unique musical path, whatever that may be.
I hold a Bachelor of Music Performance in violin and have an extensive background in orchestral and solo settings from symphonic orchestra, chamber orchestra, church bands, bluegrass and old time bands, string quartet, piano trio and more. Some of my current professional work includes playing violin with the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony. I play both blues/fiddle and ukulele in my freelance solo work. I have played ukulele both in hobby groups and professional bands.
I like to stay lighthearted and enjoy the music making process. A little humor always helps. I enjoy getting to know my students and what makes them unique! Some of my hobbies are being a pet mom, taking care of houseplants, knitting, and cooking.
I am LGBTQA+ friendly and affirming of all.
Please contact me with any questions you may have. My schedule has openings for both in-person and online students.
