Kingma Piano Studio

Lessons take place in the center of the great city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in Dr. Kingma’s inviting home studio. Conveniently located near the intersection of 61st and Sheridan, the Kingma Piano Studio is easily accessible to all of Tulsa and the surrounding cities like Bixby, Broken Arrow, Owasso, and more!

Piano lessons with Dr. Kingma are personalized to each student. He uses a variety of quality musical materials to both engage the student’s artistic imagination and develop proper technique and musicianship from the very beginning. As an experienced concert pianist with years of experience teaching students of all levels, he demonstrates every concept and equips his students to effectively practice at home.

Beginners are taught to utilize the whole keyboard and not to get used to playing in a single hand position, thus preparing them for more advanced works quickly. Reading notes is learned at the student’s pace, along with learning songs by ear and demonstration to build confidence and develop proper listening skills.

Intermediate students are given personalized repertoire and etudes to continue their technical and musical development. Scales and other exercises are taught in order to build a proper technique and prepare students for more advanced repertoire. Students learn the performance style of various composers and musical eras.

Advanced students are given more challenging works, and encouraged to enter competitions for the purpose of refinement. They are encouraged to explore the repertoire and develop a discerning taste in interpretation, resulting in a lifelong love of great music.

All students are taught music theory and artistry from the very first lesson.
