I love that Kimberly listens to my kids interests musically and adds that into their lesson plan. I feel that by her doing that she is keeping my kids excited about piano. My children had taken lessons before but Kimberly took the time to evaluate their current skill level and create a unique lesson plan to challenge and inspire them. They love their time with Kimberly, she makes piano lessons seem like a treat!

    Frequently asked questions

I talk with the new student or their parents on the phone to determine what level of piano they're at, what they need going forward and what their aspirations are.  We also discuss fees and a potential schedule that works for all. We then book a face to face/first meeting to determine what material we need for the student - approx. for 30 minutes OR a first lesson if they're ready to go.  At this point I'll send an introductory email with my 'teacher policy' attached and ask they sign and bring this policy to the first meeting or lesson.

My Background: As the youngest of 5 kids my earliest childhood memories

were of music filling the home and impromptu concerts in the living room. With

the influence of my Dad playing accordion nightly and brothers practicing and

composing on saxophone, piano/keyboards and drums, I picked up music by ear

naturally experimenting with the piano and whatever instruments I could find. I

began music studies at age 5, trained classically until age 15 then studied jazz

theory. In my early 20’s I Musical Directed Theatre productions in the Seattle

area. Shortly thereafter, I began to perform in clubs, hotels and small concert

venues throughout Seattle and Vancouver BC the Cayman Islands, then finally

landed in the San Francisco Bay area where I continued as a solo jazz

pianist/composer and recording artist for 25 years. I’ve taught piano

intermittently for 35 years. I’m presently a composer/pianist and educator,

novice gardener, mountain bike rider and lover of nature living in beautiful

Leaburg, Oregon with my husband and menagerie of furry creatures.

Students typically take lessons once each week.  My rates are:

$40 for 30 minutes.  Age 6 or younger.

$50 for 45 minutes.  Age 7 and above.

$60 for 1 hour. Recommended for ages 12 and above.
