About

My teaching approach:

My main emphasis in lessons is to make them practical and enjoyable. In lessons the actual playing experience is everything. I use backing tracks that have guitar bass and drum parts instead of using a metronome to work with scales studies and various techniques examples, along with song examples.

My influences are:

Jimmy Page, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Steve Vai, Yngwie J Malmsteen, Vinnie Moore, Micheal Schenker

My guitar lessons take place in:

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I offer a free no obligation session, as a first lesson so that you can see if my teaching methods meet your goals. In this session I ask that you bring your guitar and any books or lessons you are currently or have work with. I will ask if you can play something that you are familiar with, so that I can evaluate your skills and give you a recommendation on where we can go in lessons.

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

The main emphasis in lessons is on playing with backing tracks so that you get as close and experience playing within a live playing situation as possible. I use Guitar Pro 6 software for many of my backing tracks and for many of my written lessons. In addition I also use various MP3 files for lessons. After we discuss your specific goals we can develop a lesson strategy that will move you forward.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

Although music can be a challenge, student should be will keep in mind that the process is fun. To be able to see yourself progress at this on a daily weekly or monthly basis. A desire to learn and put the time into practice, and the understanding that this can make or break your success. To be successful in lessons, you have to put in time every day so setting aside practice time is very important. Someone who views learning music not as being hard, but more of a challenge, something that you can attain if you work at it a little at time. Someone who can tell me if you feel we are not heading in the right direction so that I can make the necessary adjustments to the lessons.
