About this pro

My name is Ted Griffin, and I’ve been playing punk rock ‘n’ roll guitar since 2004. I’ve learned many things on my musical journey, from playing with others and recording albums with my own bands, to  playing along with records and watching video performances, to brief stints with guitar lessons. I would love to share my knowledge with anyone who wants to learn. I have a practical approach and will only teach you the essentials of music theory. You pay me to learn what you want to learn. I will show you the skills you need to grow and succeed musically and give you the confidence to start a band or perform on your own. Remember, “It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll”, as the Stones proclaimed in their famous song; anyone can do it. Even you, and I’ll show you how.

I specialize in punk rock, garage rock, early rock ‘n’ roll and blues.

I enjoy sharing the gift of music with others and watching them progress and achieve their goals.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The 1st lesson begins with a free 15-20 minute consulation, followed by a half hour lesson.

During the consultation the student and I will identify their playing goals, strengths, and weaknesses. We will then select a piece of music to learn and play through it until we approach a section that is causing difficulty. I will provide tips and techniques for playing the section, and they will take the song home for homework.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have fourteen years of playing experience that includes having played in two successful local garagepunk bands, each which released a full-length album and various open mic performances. I have also taken formal guitar lessons.
