I am an experienced instructor and strong, competitive performer. I am able to relate with and adapt to a wide range of ages, personalities, abilities and needs. At the same time, I have a doctorate and am a strong solo and collaborative pianist--I can help students achieve high levels of musical and technical artistry. Whatever the student's needs or goals, I have a track-record of being able to meet those needs and help them succeed.
I believe in instilling a love for learning, not just achievement. I am a self-driven musician and know both what success and struggle feel like. I get great satisfaction from seeing my students have the "AHA!" moment when they understand how to solve a passage, memorize more efficiently, see the bigger picture of the piece, or figure out how to play that line legato without pedal. I require my students to practice regularly and commit to progress. Likewise, I take their success as my personal responsibility and will do whatever needs to be done to help them achieve their goals.
