I am an experienced instructor and strong, competitive performer. I am able to relate with and adapt to a wide range of ages, personalities, abilities and needs. At the same time, I have a doctorate and am a strong solo and collaborative pianist--I can help students achieve high levels of musical and technical artistry. Whatever the student's needs or goals, I have a track-record of being able to meet those needs and help them succeed.
I believe in instilling a love for learning, not just achievement. I am a self-driven musician and know both what success and struggle feel like. I get great satisfaction from seeing my students have the "AHA!" moment when they understand how to solve a passage, memorize more efficiently, see the bigger picture of the piece, or figure out how to play that line legato without pedal. I require my students to practice regularly and commit to progress. Likewise, I take their success as my personal responsibility and will do whatever needs to be done to help them achieve their goals.
She was able to give me new a perspective on the purpose of practicing, which in turn strengthened my ability to perform because I was significantly more prepared to do so after implementing her practice methods.
Dr. Etnoyer is friendly, accessible, and very easy to work with. I appreciate her willingness to accommodate our difficult schedule. She has a wealth of information regarding appropriate music for my daughter, and best off, my daughter enjoys taking lessons from her!
Elizabeth was very patient with my daughter and was always positive. She really encouraged her and it was obvious she enjoyed teaching.
Dr. Etnoyer was especially effective in helping my oldest daughter to improve her technique and increase her confidence. She is an excellent and extremely talented instructor. My children received a great musical education in every aspect with Dr. Etnoyer.
