I have many years of experience teaching privately and in classrooms.
As an artist, I teach, perform, write and record music. For drum set all you need is a pad, pair of sticks, metronome, dedication and patience with the learning process.

I've teach High School students, Grammer School students. I teach private students from 9 to 60 years of age.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
You should trust and feel comfortable with your teacher and the direction he or she is guiding your lessons. You should try to have faith in his or her experience and spend some time reading about them on thier website, then try a lesson.
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What do they want and expect to get out of this experience and what goals they would like to set musically and personally.
