What is your typical process for working with a new student?

The Cunningham Music School works on a highly consultative basis--that means that we try and find out the student's baseline, their musical goals, the time that the student is able to commit to lessons, and anything else that the teacher may find useful.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

All of our teachers hold at least a B.Music in the instrument that they teacher, but most of our teachers also hold a graduate degree in music as well.

All of our teachers have proir expereince teaching private lessons, were subject to state and federal background checks, and went through a heavy vetting process to work withus.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

$30 per half hour

$45 per 45 min

$60 per hour

What types of students have you worked with?

We have students as young as four and students who have grandchildren in college, from beginners up to students that hold Masters Degrees in Music and want to continue study.

We also offer an adaptive music lessons program for students that are neuroatypical or have physical limitations.

All of our students have on thing in common--they don't just want to play music, they want to be musicians.

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Our voice department hosts a choir over the summer! We are preparing for the Cunningham Community Choir Concert (later this month) and the entire voice department is having a BALL putting that together.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

Music teachers should be considering the student as an individual, not as a member of an age group or skill level group.

Private lesson teachers, in particular, should incorporate multiple disciplines and approaches in their lessons--music theory, aural theory, solo performance opportunities, and group performance opportunities are important to offer students so that they can reach their full musical potential.
