I have been a piano teacher for over 30 years and have taught privately as well as in an evening program with the Salvation Army.
I began my piano training at the age of 15 and studied with a piano teacher who was a student of the concert pianist Claudio Arrau. I graduated from Temple University, Philadelphia, in 1982 with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. I love teaching children because they are always excited to learn how to play the piano. As they learn to play they develop a sense of accomplishment and build their confidence as they learn new things each week.
I teach basic piano but also use fun songs to help keep a student interested in playing. While I teach basic concepts such as rhythm and reading notes I also teach at the child's pace so that it does not get too confusing and they become discouraged if they can't grasp the concept at first.
