Carla has worked extensively as an actor, singer, songwriter, instructor and director in New York, Los Angeles and Pittsburgh for the past 25 years. She first performed when she was just 4 years old at a party where guests filled a Styrofoam cup with money upon hearing her sing. Since then, Carla has secured numerous recording and composition deals and has appeared on West Coast, Broadway and off Broadway stages, all of which have won her chart placements, recognitions and awards. She is most known for her starring role as Maureen in the Broadway show Rent and for composing the #1 Billboard song, “The Lover That You Are”, which won her an ASCAP award. She also originated the role of Wendla in Spring Awakening in its early workshop phase working with Duncan Sheik at the Sundance Theater Lab.
