Piano By Marcia
About
The music teachers Marcia had early on in life instilled a deep passion for the art of music. As she grew as a student, she increasingly valued the importance of learning how to read music, perform rhythms, understand the concept of pitch, interpret music notation and develop an ear for music. This became the foundation for her passion to teach.
Marcia’s style of teaching comes from the idea that you have to learn to walk in order to learn how to run - The key is building confidence in the student’s abilities.
Marcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, with the primary instrument of study being piano. She graduated Cum Laude and was the only female to graduate with a music education degree in her class.
She has taught multiple content areas, including choir, theater arts, music appreciation, and piano lab. She has active teaching certifications in music from Pre-K through 12th grade in both Virginia and Pennsylvania. Additionally, Marcia is current in her Pennsylvania State Criminal History and Child Abuse clearances, as well as the FBI background check.
Marcia currently teaches lessons in the Alle-Kiski Valley Area out of her home, Waddell's Music in Wexford, and through Murphy's Music Center in Leechburg. She is also a Teaching Artist for the Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center.
You can see Marcia performing with Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh (the partnering choir to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra).
