What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Accessing their current ability. Determining what their goals are such as musical genre, preparing for an audition, learning for personal enjoyment, etc. Then devising a plan to best suit their learning style and goals.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been studying piano for over 30 years and singing for over 25 years. I hold a B.A. from Rhode Island College in Music.
I have been teaching piano, voice, songwriting, and music theory for over 20 years.
I own and run my own teaching studio in Barrington, RI.
How did you get started teaching?
I started teaching in College while I was getting my degree.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all ages and levels from beginner to advanced. I have also worked quite a bit with singer/songwriters to refine their playing and singing technique.
I have also worked with several children with special needs.
