I'm now welcoming online students from anywhere, and beginning in July, 2026 I'll also offer lessons in my Irmo studio or travel to students' homes throughout the Columbia, Irmo, and Lexington area. After-school and evening lesson times are limited and expected to fill quickly, so families interested in in-person lessons are encouraged to reserve a free introductory Zoom lesson soon.

After teaching thousands of lessons, I've learned that the best music education isn't one-size-fits-all. Every student has different interests, strengths, and ways of learning. I enjoy discovering what excites each child and using the music they already love to build confidence, creativity, and lasting musical skills. Students may learn to perform at talent shows, write songs, sing while playing, improvise, or simply master their favorite music.

Lessons are fun, encouraging, and personalized. I specialize in guitar, ukulele, and Loog guitar, and also teach piano, drums, bass, violin, harmonica, voice, and other instruments at beginning through intermediate levels.

Private Lessons (Zoom or Irmo Studio)

30 minutes – $45

45 minutes – $65

60 minutes – $80

In-home lessons are also available for a small travel fee.

The best first step is a free, no-pressure Zoom lesson. Your child will learn something fun to play, share their musical interests, and you'll get a feel for my teaching style. Visit benbrillmusic.com to learn more or reserve a spot.

Ben is a great teacher - his music selection is based on kids interests and what they like. He’s patient and does a great job on zoom with virtual lessons!! My son loves to play the guitar and loves his Zoom lessons with Ben each week! He’s always got something new to share and teach!

Weve been working with Ben for nearly 3 years and my kids are excited every week to practice and attend lessons! Hes innovative, engaged, and endlessly patient, which makes each week an adventure. He is extremely organized and his own talent allows him to use both traditional materials and original adaptations for specific skill levels and different instruments. He truly listens and modifies each individuals curriculum to their ability and interest--its simply amazing!!
I cannot say enough positive things about Ben--I am so thankful to have found him and to witness the growth in my kiddos both as musicians and creative thinkers.
