About
I am passionate about taking students from where they are musically and helping them develop into better musicians. I teach piano to all levels and ages (even adults!). I work with each student individually and cater my teaching to their specific goals. I received my undergraduate degree in Piano Pedagogy and my graduate degree in Piano Performance. I have taught music in several arts community schools as well as privately. I have experience teaching piano since 2010.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
When working with a new student, I will evaluate their background first. If I'm working with a new student, I will recommend books (depending on their age) and will immediately start teaching them the basics of the piano in the first lesson.
For the first lesson with a transfer or adult student, I typically spend time talking to them about what they have learned in the past. I also will ask them for goals and what they would like to accomplish on the piano. Often, I will ask them to play a piece from a previous teacher or sight read from one of my books; that way I can evaluate where they are musically. This lesson typically has more talking through what they have learned in the past so I can then help them progress to where they would like to be as a musician.
