About

Hi

My name is Caitlin. I enjoy teaching! My primary instrument is the violin which I've been teaching for over 10 years! I am a patient but firm teacher with realistic expectations for my students. I enjoy working with students who like to learn about music. It is my goal that some of my students will be independent musicians and that all of my students would appreciate music. I have a B.S. in Music Education from Trevecca Nazarene University and a minor in performance violin. I play professionally on aa part time basis as well as teach.

I use a varied version of the Suzuki violin method. i have taken a couple Suzuki classes and enjoy some of its teaching methods.

I also use the Elements 2000 book which helps introduce the violin to my students. It is a good beginners book.

I hold student recitals at the public library quarterly and enjoy organizing concerts and events alike. My students enjoy performing all of the songs they have worked on for months.

I believe that music is powerful and we should have a chance to experience it. Whether by playing an instrument or listening to aa song.

Caitlin is a wonderful violin teacher that Ive been taking lessons from for close to a year now. She has the additional hurdle of teaching a 58 y.o. which she does with much encouragement and enthusiasm. While giving guidance & instruction she figures out the best method for your abilities to help you succeed. We are working through both the Suzuki methods and fiddling since I like both and that keeps the practicing interesting and fun. Highly recommend her and will be having fun playing the violin from now on!

    Frequently asked questions

When I start a new student I typically have a questionnaire for that student. Students have different goals and have different reasons for learning a new instrument.

After the questionnaire I then do a teacher/student interview and I typically ask questions and they are free to ask me questions to see if we would be a good fit for lessons.
