Hello students. I love everything about music from performing to recording to composing and arranging. I graduated with a bachelor in guitar in 2014 and have been teaching private and group lessons for the past 9 years. I also hold a songwriting certificate. I have had lots of experience playing in different musical groups and bands that has made me into a very well rounded musician. I also have a regular scehdule of solo gigs. I play and teach a variety of styles and I try to incorporate modern music theory practically to help my students grow as musicians overall.

I enjoy seeing my students really understand and develop new concepts and techniques. I enjoy watching my students acheive things they didn't think were possible when they first started.

I am an adult student, and learning guitar has been on my bucket list for a long time. I have no ambition to perform publicly, and am content to develop slowly. Mark is exceptionally patient, which is just what I need. I never feel like Im not progressing quick enough - he understands Ive got a million things besides guitar to think about. I also love that he can explain both technique and theory in more than one way (e.g. heres another way to play that chord), rather than insisting there is only one way to learn. And he is always responsive to my interests (e.g. how about we start a new song, or can we spend this week breaking that song down). In short, I am not only learning, Im enjoying it! Indeed, here I am two years and still playing. (I think my wife worried the guitar would end up collecting dust after a few months). I credit this in no small part to Mark.

Oh, and his ability to play a new song from ear is uncanny!

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I meet the student and figure out where they are musically and then discuss the goals they have and the best way for us to work together to acheive those goals. I work on technique, theory, reading, and reportoire in a detailed and easy step by step process that allows the student to actually gain understanding of concepts and new techniques at a pace that works for them.

What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with all ages from 4 years old to ederly and students of all musical backgrounds and skill levels. I like to meet students where they are at and help them to reach their own goals musically.
