About

With about 35 years experience of teaching privately, classroom and online all levels and styles of guitar, from beginner to advanced players, I feel that I have a lot to offer in the way of customizing lessons that suit your needs or that of your child. THE FIRST LESSON IS FREE! I do this so that we can get to know each other and see it we're a good fit.

My resume includes 3 years of teaching at Musician's Institute in Hollywood CA and Atlanta Institute of Music previously to MI. Also touring the US for apporximately 4 years as a lead guitarist and playing local gigs such as club dates, cruises and sometimes large arenas. All this experience in the music industry as a pro player and teacher helps me to help you on many different levels.

I love it when I get a student that's really interested!! I can't wait to show them what I know. It's so fulfulling to watch someone "get it"! The love of music is contagious and teaching others to improvise and channel the music within is one of God's greatest gifts to us.

    Frequently asked questions

    The first thing is to ask what their goals are:  Do they just want to learn rhythm so they can accompany themselves when they sing?   Do the want to learn to improvise so that they can solo over blues, rock or jazz chords?  Or play classical and learn to read really well?

    Usually beginner students haven't a clue to any of these questions so the best course of action is to let them tell me what songs they would like to learn and in these songs I can determine what styles a student is interested in develping.

    $140 per month for 4 and $175 for five lessons

    At a local music store, before that I was helping friends learn. 

    All levels and styles. I studied classical in college but returned to learning rock, blues and jazz influenced music later. When teaching at Musician's Institute I worked with guitar students from all over the world. I've also done classroom teaching and written a book on Music Theory titled "Foundational Music Theory for Guitarists" that is has been published on Amazon. I've also recorded lessons for a prominent online guitar lesson site Jamplay.com which is now Truefire.com.
    In the past I have organized showcases for my students to play at a local clubs These events are game changers and the students really enjoy performing.
    Please check to see that they are qualified teachers. I don't mean with a degree necessarily but that they have studied and done a great deal of teaching.
