Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I teach through Faber and Faber Piano Adventures cirriculum. I teach a free trial lesson where I introduce basic concepts of music and allow the student to engage in writing their own songs, learning songs that are already written and then familiarizing them with concepts of piano playing. During regularly scheduled lessons I work with the student to continue learning foundational concepts of piano as well as learning proper technique and music theory. I also include fun songs that are fine tuned to the students interests.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been taught piano and took lessons for nearly 15 years. I then learned how to teach from my current teacher who took me under her wing and mentored me in the art of teaching piano. I have taken multiple music courses in my college studies and I am about to graduate with a degree in Psychology which I am excited about applying to my lessons and interactions with my students.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
My pricing is 100 dollars a month on a tuition based system. The student gets one lesson a week!
How did you get started teaching?
After I had been impacted so immensly by my piano teacher, I realized that I would be missing out if I didn't pass on that love and joy to others. Teaching piano became a passion and a joy that allows me to give the gift of music to others!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked with all different students, including young students, teens, adults, and students with special needs such as autism and audio processing disorders.
