I started playing the piano was I was 5 years old, and haven't looked back. I have been teaching students for over 10 years, but have semi-recently moved to Nashville from Seattle and am looking to start my music career here!
What types of students have you worked with?
I have worked every type of student, whether they are 5 years old or 75 years old. I have also worked across all genres, from people who want to become a great classical pianist to people who just want to be able to play along to a song they wrote.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am a songwriter and music producer as well. I recently released my first song and it gained 50k plays in the first 2 weeks! That's probably what I'm most proud of right now.
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find someone that you will enjoy taking lessons from. Learning music should be fun and rewarding! A lot of teachers have a variety of styles and methods, and I'd encourage you to look around and choose the one that will get you to your goals the soonest!
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
Ask your prospective teacher about goals, timelines, and lesson plans. They should be able to develop a clear roadmap with specific steps and practice plans. Learning should happen every day, not just on lesson day!
