About
Playing piano since age 6, then trumpet in the 5th grade, I switched to tuba in the 7th grade. I was a featured soloist with bands throughout elementary school, high school, college and in the military. In the Army, I was a featured jazz tuba soloist with The Army Band of Europe and made up my own parts. Later, in the Marine Corps, I not only was First Chair tuba, but later became the First Chair on euphonium and baritone horn (first in Okinawa, then in The Marine Corps West Coast Band (marching in the Rose Bowl parade and making a TV special at Walt Disney studios with Ella Fitzgerald).
I have a Bachelor of Music Degree with studies at Indiana University, Middle Tennessee State University, and the University of Memphis.
I have written, transposed or improvised music for me and/or my students to play at various occasions.
I have taught students at Elementary and High Schools ever since I was in college. One of my early students became a band director. I have taught students at various Middle Schools and High Schools since I returned to Murfreesboro, Tennessee in 2010. I have had several students to make All County Band, All Mid-State Band, and All State Band. One student (to whom I teach trombone and piano) is in the Nashville Youth Curb Symphony. I currently teach at my studio in my home. I have a few more openings available now, so I would appreciate any referrals. Thanks.

A Bachelor of Music degree with studies at Indiana University (where I majored on tuba and passed a piano proficiency test), Middle Tennessee State University, and the University of Memphis.

Prices increase from time to time, but not every year like they sometimes do with other jobs or rental fees.

Trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba and euphonium or baritone horn students as well as piano students.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Recently I gave a Christmas program for a Sunday school class party on my tuba where I improvised around some Christmas music and also provided the melody for a sing-a-long.

Get one that has great training so that they can deal with any problems you may have and teach you the correct methods for playing.
