My teaching approach: former music and arts teacher, relaxed learning environment, i consider myself a "application style teacher". meaning im not just gonna throw a bunch of boring books at you. i will try to get you understanding and playing chords, scales, and songs very quickly. Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following: if you are a beginner , i will usually start with chords and a little fretboard logic to help you understand how the fretboard is layed out. If you already play, we find the ideas that help you create what your looking for . alot of players dont know what they want, except they want to improve. i try to fix bad habits in form, thought process, and direct application, while enforcing music entities such as scales, chords, and your creativity.
A guitar lesson with me might entail the following: i custom tailor lessons for each student speciffically to their needs and desires. I dont teach sight reading, because that is for people who want to read off of a piece of paper. I teach people to actually play and understand their instrument so they have the skills to create music not copy it.
i have many students that are established players who just need troubleshooting. The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following: i love die hards. people who really want it bad. they always show up , they get the most out of their lessons , they do their homework (practice)
