Cooking with Mirko was an absolute joy! He gives great attention to every detail. He is extremely organized and prepared. We made pizza, risotto, and pasta. I'm now a more confident, comfortable cook. He gives great tips and advice. He's kind, funny, and a delight to cook with in the kitchen. He exceeded my expectations in every way.

Mirko turned my daughter's 14th birthday into HUGE success! He came and taught 12 girls to make pizza dough from scratch, roll it out, gave topping combination suggestions, but let them explore and make their own CRAZY delicious pizza. Adults were watching too and learning a lot . I seriously never had such good pizza in my life. Mirko made it fun for girls, he treated them as adults (which they appreciated), but also taught to my younger boys at their level, so he can definitely relate to different age groups. Thank you so much for everything, Mirko. My daughter said this was her best birthday party yet.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?

I establish with the student what are his/her goals and offer some dishes we can prepare. We learn cooking techniques and information about products and produce we use while cooking.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am certified Roman Pizza Style chef (Roman Pizza Academy).

I have been cooking at home for more than 30 years. I regularly cook for small parties of friends and sometimes for bigger parties (20-30 people).

I was born in Italy. I have I lived in Italy for 32 years and I have always explored and studied my country traditions and culture.

I have been cooking and eating plant based food for over 3 years.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

My rate is $40/h.

How did you get started teaching?

I started teaching children (my sons and his friends) making pizza. I used to teach my friends italian cousine and plant based cousine.

What types of students have you worked with?

Children: 5-10 year old

Young adults: 11-19 year old

Adults: 20-60 year old

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

I have taught a group of young women (about 14 year old) how to make pizza from scratch at a birthday party. I loved it because they were very mindful and open to try something new, calm and respectuful. Beautiful experience.

What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

I would look for a teacher that can approach cooking in a fun way, showing me the pleasure in cooking a meal and enjoying the process.

What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?

Every question is a good question. Let the teacher know your need and then a proper lesson can be set up to meet your desired goal.
