About

There are those whose do, those who teach and those who do & teach. Not all doers are teachers - or good teachers anyway. This journey is about you. Ensure you pick the best teacher and pick the best student/teacher fit. I teach those who have the inner drive to be real guitarist and musicians. If that is you, it will be a good student/teacher fit and my job will be to help you make the most of your journey.

I live in the Dallas TX area. If you are out of town and wish to inquire about training with me, please ensure you list "online lessons" as part of your inquiry.

Zoom sessions are just as effective as in person and you can record them for later review.

If you give my program a try, either in person or online, and decide it is not for you, there is no pressure to continue. This has to be about you and your music journey.

Always knowledgeable and helpful. My understanding of music and theory have improved in ways that I could not have done on my own. Jeff is always available for questions even outside of lessons which helps tremendously for those of us with busy schedules. Would highly recommend him to anyone looking to advance their guitar playing and musical knowledge.

I’ve been taking lessons from Jeff for almost 2 years. He got my attention because of his commitment to teaching me music, not just guitar. He has proven over the last years to do just that, diving deeper than just the six-string with theory and application. Jeff presents the material in an understandable way and is easily accessible for comments and questions outside of scheduled lesson times.

Jeff is a great teacher. I believe that he goes above and beyond with his students. He is incredibly transparent and great with communication. Jeff is prepared to dive deep into theory, technique, composition, and performance. Any question I’ve asked has a concise answer, and I know my comprehension of theory and playing has improved greatly!

Jeff is a phenomenal teacher. His technique is amazing and goes from the basics which will help you become a great guitarist and not just a guitar player who can play a couple of songs. I love the materials and the theory that he teaches. I highly recommend to work with Jeff.

Frequently asked questions

Very structured based on the student's goals.  Each student usually work on 4 of the main tenents of music at a time for overall growth and variety.  Which 4 those are depend on the student, where they are and where they want to go.

I have studied with Andy Woods, Rody Elias - retired university jazz instructor in Canada, Matt Warnock and Bruce Arnold who is the head of the NYU and Princeton guitar departments.

I studied music at the Univeristy of Central Oklahoma and enjoy watching students as the "light goes off" when they grasp another musical concept or when the element they were working on comes together.

$60 for a full hour and full time access to me via email and texts to get your questions answered between lessons.

I enjoy playing but enjoy helping others more.  So I helped people I knew and their feedback was that they had never learned so much in an way that made sense and was easy to grasp.   So I branched out and started helping others.

13 year olds to senior citizens.  I only take Jr. High and High School students who are motivated and committed to learning music.  I teach music and "just happen" to use the guitar to facilitate that learning transfer.   In the process, the student becomes a good guitarist but also a real musician.

Almost all events are the same: a person tries to learn via youtube videos or a book or someone they know that plays guitar they don't make much progress for all the time they put in.   They come to me and immediately start to make progress on the first lesson.  I am proud I do that for them.

The best thing I can tell you is that if you only want to dabble with music, I am probably not your guy.  If you really want to improve your quality of life through music, then I am  willing to spend my time helping you.

Be very clear about what your desired outcomes are when enterviewing a potention instructor.  Don't let them push in a diretion you don't want to go.  Pay attention to your emotions and physical feelings when you are interviewing them and take note of any red flags which make you unsure or uncomfortable.
