What is your typical process for working with a new student?

Most important thing is to find out exactly what you would like to learn and lets do that, no matter how hard or easy, it is YOUR lesson so let's go for it.  After that likes, dislikes, menu and what are your goals.


What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from culinary arts in 2003 and have been cooking ever since, have cooked in resorts, schools, hospitals, restarurants, healthy and unhealthy food, and even had my own catering business.  Have done meals from 2 people all the way to 1,000 and love to teach people how to cook and personal chef services.


Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.

I normally will charge $25 an hour per person plus the food cost and a set up and clean up fee.  I do require a minimum of 2 hours for the cooking class.  It can be a basic class to a very difficult class, and it's basically up to you.  I will do this in the privacy of your own home, will purchase food, set up, teach and clean up as if I was never there.  Any food left is all yours to keep on practicing and enjoy.  I do not hold back all my years of experience you will get in the classes you book.


How did you get started teaching?

I taught high school culinary arts for a bit and then opened my own business and saw there was a need since people wanted to learn to cook.  I was already training people in all the jobs I had and saw how much they had learned from me that I wanted to extend that to anyone who might want to learn to cook or bake.


What types of students have you worked with?

I have worked with children as young as 6 all the way up to adults in their 70s.  It is fun for me either way, but I will say that children are hilarious because they do not hold back and nothing scares them.  With adults after class they always question why they never took a cooking class way before.  I always tell them that I teach different and they would not have had the same experience.


Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Teaching a young couple that just moved in to their first home and wanted to learn how to cook so they can start entertaining.  They were blown away at how easy they were taught how to cook dishes that you might pay an arm and a leg in fine dining restaurants and now they had the confidence to do it themselves.


What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?

This is not something that is done all the time, but after doing it once you will want to do it more and more.  Next time think of me when you want to learn to cook you will not regret it.  I am here to make sure you gain confidence and knowledge that cooking is nothing out of this world.  If you practice and practice you will get better and better with my lessons.
