Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
During our first meeting I like to establish a relationship with the student and work together to zero in on what you are wanting to gain from your time in lessons, and evaluate your current level of skill in the area of focus. From there, we dive right in! My goal is to challenge each student but specifically in a way that is rewarding and not frustrating. Establishing a goal is crucial so we can look back at the end of every month and mark your progress. All the while maintaining a professional level of transparency between the client/guardian to ensure you are pleased with the students progress.

How did you get started teaching?
While in high school I started teaching some neighborhood kids piano hoping to make a little extra cash but discovered my passion for teaching all things music!
From then I went on to teach private lessons in various performing art schools associated with the churches. I have had the privilege of being on staff with both churches and private music academy’s over the past 7 years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have had had the privilege to work with all different levels of music and tech/production students, and by that I mean I’ve thought some of each....
- Beginner (zero skill knowledge)
- Intermediate (knows the basics)
- Advanced (plays one or more instruments)
- Pro (this is their living)
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Find the right fit! Look for a teacher that communicates in a way that is inspiring to YOU and challenges YOU to press towards your goal! Teacher/Student chemistry is very important, and if you find the right fit, you’ll find yourself striving to always reach the “next greatest” (:
What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
What are you hoping to gain from your experience in music/production lessons?
