About

Hello fellow music lovers. Ever since I can remember music and sound has fascinated me. I immediately took up playing the drums guitar and piano throughout grade school. In college, while acquireing my bachaleors degree in civil engineering, I also worked on an associates degree in audio engineering. I've had over 5 years of private training with multiple different teachers once a week in musical composition and theory as well as vocal training. I'm great with all age group and whatever level you are starting at. If you are looking to start off playing an instrument and want to end up having a finished recording product, I can teach you every step of the way from acoustical treatment to voice pitch all the way to file conversions.

guitar: I can help with basics, such as the names of everything on the guitar, the purpose of the parts, why some guitars aren't different then others and what makes them different, how to form chords, how to play scales, how to play modes, how to use modes and chords to create progressions, how to play back up guitar as well as lead. Also I can teach mixing the guitar mic placements on amps and aquiring that "perfect" tone

Ableton, protools and other daws: set up the daw on your computer so that it runs most efficiently. Link up all midi devices and speakers and work on placement to maximize sound and efficiency. Work with mixing, show how to isolate tracks, reduce mud, apply filters use equalizers, maximizes, limiters, noise gates, analog to midi triggers.

voice: work on ear training, work up and down through vocal scales in your range. Help with cover songs or original songs on hitting the notes you want and getting the emotional feelings and responses from the audience desired. Also can help with melody progressions as well as lyrics

song writing, music theory, composition: I would strongly recommend being familiar with an instrument or your voice before taking these. In conjunction with an instrument I strongly encourage you to also be some what familiar with DAWs (music recording programs) or willing to be. If you are completely new to reading and writing music I will show you what each note head means, time signature, fortissimo etc.... everything you would need to read a piece of sheet music. After we have the basics down depending on your goals there are different areas of focus such as ear training, melodic writing, harmonic writing, song composition as a whole, balancing all the tracks, pacing of the song. This can all be done on paper but being able to put it into the computer in a program like finale and transferring it over into protools will give you a finish final professional sound

Everything, absolutely everything. I love workin with other people and helping them. I love music, creating it, listening to it and analayzing it. I can't imagine a day in my life without it

Frequently asked questions

When working with a new student my number one goal is to make sure that the environment suites their every need so that the number one focus can be learning and having fun. I like to get my new students to give me a list of goals they want to accomplish and I like to lay out some lessons plans in order to get there. The first lesson I usually use as a base line test to evaluate where the student is at.

Ive been taking guitar, drum and piano lessons for over 15 years. I've taken music theory, composition and voice training for just over 5 years. I have a touring band of original songs written by me. I have extensive audio engineering tracing through online continuing education courses through Lynda.com I've done live sound for many preformances, festivals, bars and events around Houston. I've also done extensive research into the mathematics behind sound waves and have started my own sound panel engineering company.

No set in stone standard but usually I require one hour long session with 30 min increments that can be added on

My friends were impressed with how knowledgeable I was and wanted to learn themselves so I started teaching them then they referred me to other friends and family and it kinda took off from there

All ages of students ranging from beginners to advanced

Designed and hand built my recording studio. Complete with a control room isolation booths and a live room. Also Just played and ran sound for a local Houston Festival

Ask specific questions. Make sure I'm able to help you with exactly what you want. The more specific about your goals the better I can help

What information do you already know? What information do you want to learn? What are the gaps and areas of improvement you think you need to have in order to get to that goal
