King Kirk
About
Hello students, my name is Kirk aka King Kirk. I've played all types of guitars for over 12 years. I can play blues, rock, jazz, classical, folk, and metal. What stands out to me more than other teachers is that I am 100% self taught. I will show you what you need to search for when wanting to learn a new style, whether it be quickly for a gig or slowly for a studio album. I can also teach you the fundamentals of a 7 string guitar since that's what I love to play.
I enjoy playing guitar no matter what. I WILL ALWAYS LOVE IT. Whether it's teaching students or playing with my band, I enjoy doing it because I always get better everytime I play. I also enjoy seeing the looks on my students faces when they finally nail that riff or don't butcher the last note in a solo. Seeing the joy on their faces when they realize what I'm teaching isn't just gibberish but instead actually connects from their brain to their guitar is ultimate bliss.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
Getting to know the student first and why s/he's is interested in learning guitar. What goals do they wish to accomplish playing guitar. MOST IMPORTANTLY, do you see yourself playing guitar 10+ years from now
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
No Berkeley college of music for me Or any music college for that matter. Been self-taught through Google and YouTube.
Know modes/chords/fingerstyle and pick guitar/chord progressions of all genres.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
1st lesson is free. $40 after that.
How did you get started teaching?
My friends kept asking for tips and lessons. So I decided to be professional and become a guitar teacher
What types of students have you worked with?
Many kinds. From the timid teenager to the arrogant boomer. I am a very freindly people's person and is very malleable to most situations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Playing a gig where people would asked for my info after hearing me play so that I can teach them some of my original songs
What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
Only YOU can get better at the guitar. You have to have the drive and it must be GENUINE. You can't play just because you want to be a famous rockstar because realistically it WILL NOT happen. There's too many musicians our there and now in this digital age, you don't even need a band. You can do it all by yourself as a 1-man band. Learn to play because you love seeing the progress you make getting better everyday, and I mean single everyday, you play.
