About

About Me – Wayne Li

Your guide to making music that matters.

With over 25 years of teaching experience and a career spanning three continents, I've had the privilege of performing with legends like Yo-Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman, and Pinchas Zukerman—but my greatest joy? Watching a student nail that passage they've been struggling with for weeks.

I graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (1990), earned my Master's from Denver University (2001), and played professionally with the Louisiana Philharmonic and Colorado Symphony Orchestras. That background gives me a deep understanding of technique, artistry, and what it takes to succeed—but in our lessons, it's your journey that takes center stage.

My teaching philosophy is simple: no pressure, just progress.

I meet you where you are—whether you're a beginner picking up the bow for the first time or a seasoned player aiming for TMEA All-State. My students have earned top chairs across Region 25 and beyond (Carol Liu, Becky Glass, and many more), and several have gone on to prestigious programs like SMU and the Cleveland Institute of Music.

What you can expect:

· Personalized online lessons tailored to your goals

· Digital resources and practice tools that make learning stick

· Clear, patient guidance with zero judgment

· Flexibility that fits your schedule and learning style

I specialize in violin and viola, and I welcome students of all ages—from curious kids to returning adults. Music isn't about perfection; it's about connection, expression, and growth. Let's unlock yours together.

Studio is very well maintained and Andrew had been very accommodating with changes in class timing. He also is very patient with Nirvi.
