Presto Piano Studio is a friendly one-on-one learning environment that offers customized music lessons for all ages and abilities. This well-rounded approach inclues theory, technique, and ear training, composition in a variety of styles.
I love working with students and helping them feel the joy of making music and finding music that expresses their uniqueness. I am an avid performer and composer and am always reminded of how much I love great music. I make it my mission to help students feel the power of music.

What is your typical process for working with a new student?
I visit with the student prior to the first lesson to assess the student's experience and discuss the student's goals. This allows me to customize the curriculum that will help the student and I achieve those goals. I start each lesson with technique, including scales and chords, and then work on repertoire and theory. Student input is important in selecting new pieces. All styles are taught.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a professional piano instructor for 30 years. I earned my Master of Music degree in Piano Performance from the University of Texas at Austin and my Bachelor in Piano from The University of Utah. I am a certified teacher through MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and member of the State Board of Utah Music Teachers Association.
I also have 20 years of professional performing experience in musical theatre, jazz bands, rock bands, and church music. My compositions have been performed in churches and my recordings are on many music distribution sites.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50 per hour. Lessons are 30 minutes each, weekly. I also offer 45-minute and hour-long lessons on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.
How did you get started teaching?
I was taking piano lessons from the age of 4 with my mother, who continued to be my mentor as a new piano teacher in my teen years.
What types of students have you worked with?
I have taught 3 1/2 yr.olds to elderly students. I have specialty in preparing teen students for college auditions in music because of my college-level teaching experience at The University of Montana, and Weber State University.
I work with students who want to learn to write and record their own music, as well as students who are interested in competition.
