About

My teaching approach:

If you are looking to learn the guitar quickly, or looking to just expand your skills set with the guitar, please contact me. I have been playing guitar for over 14 years and am currently a student at BYU. I can teach in any style you desire from rock, pop, country, or bluegrass. Whether you are are a beginner or have playing for many years I will craft a guitar curriculum that is customized to your individual level and goals as a guitarist. I have a broad background in music theory, improvisation, songwriting, jazz, and performance psychology. The guitar lessons are taught at the Great Salt Lake Guitar Company (in Provo, UT).

My influences are:

B.B king, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Steve Vai, Kirk Hammett, Matt Bellamy, Muddy Waters, The Clash, the Ramones, Spoon, The Shines, Dream Theater, Iron and Wine, The Killers, Dead Kennedys, David Bowie, The Who, The Doors, Willy Nelson, Neil Young, and many many more...

My guitar lessons take place in:

Guitar lessons typically take place on these days and hours:

I teach Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 3-9pm, at the Great Salt Lake Guitar Company, 362 West Center Street in Provo.

Guitar Techniques:

Lead guitar, Rhythm guitar, Open tuning, Fingerstyle, Slide Guitar, Vocal Accompaniment, Performance, Improvisation, Jamming Skills, Reading Music, Music Theory, Scales and Exercises, Song Writing, Guidance In Equipment Selection

Your first guitar lesson with me might include the following:

I generally do an assessment with every student during the first lesson if they have some experience, and see what chords they know, and how well they can read music and understand the basics of music. If they don\'t have any experience that\'s totally fine too, I will just teach from the begining

A guitar lesson with me might entail the following:

I do each lesson according to the students goals and aspirations in music. Every lesson is individualized according to the students level, taste in music and ultimate goals. Within a typical lesson we will spend time on lead guitar techniques, then some time on rhythm guitar techniques, and end working on a goal song chosen by the student.

The qualities I look for in an ideal guitar student might include the following:

Anyone who is passionate about music and excited about learning new things.
