I took bass lessons with Eric over the summer and saw a huge improvement in my playing ability. His teaching was easy to understand, and the sessions were fun! He kept me on track and I found myself able to play many of my favorite bass lines, even after just a few sessions.

If youre looking for a top-notch blues guitar teacher, I highly recommend Eric Heideman. This guy is legit! I tried learning guitar in high school by taking lessons, but could never make sense of it. Since then Ive picked up the guitar off and on without any meaningful improvement.
Thats changed now that Im working with Eric. His deep understanding of blues techniques-including slide guitar-and his ability to break down complex concepts make learning both enjoyable and rewarding. Erics teaching style helps you develop an authentic blues tone and feel. If you want to improve your playing while learning from a true working musician, Eric is the guy to go to.

    Frequently asked questions

I usually ask the student why they want to play guitar and what styles of music, bands, and songs they like to listen to. My teaching process is tailored to what the student wants to learn. That being said, I always teach the fundamentals to everyone. This includes but is not limited to picking hand position, fretting hand position, chords, scales, finger exercises, how to hold a pick, and how to play in time. I teach all these techniques with real-world examples that you can implement into playing songs and music.

I have a bachelor's degree in Jazz Guitar from the University of Utah

I have played guitar for over 20 years

    I am a gigging musian

I have written and recorded three albums

I opened for ZZ Top at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City, Utah I have been teaching guitar or over 10 years

I charge $40 for a half-hour lesson $65 for an hour lesson. These lessons are typically weekly, and you pay as you go.

I also have a free 30-minute trial lesson.

My cancelation policy is as such: if you cannot make a lesson for any reason besides emergencies, you just let me know 24 hours in advance if you want a make up or to skip that lesson without paying. If you cancel the lesson the day of, I will charge you for the missed lesson. You must pay for the missed lesson before I will teach you another.

I got started teaching as a supplement to my income as well as gigging. I love teaching dedicated students who love music and instruments.

I have worked with students as young as 6 and as old as 80. I believe you are never to young or old to start learning about music. I work with beginners, intermediate players and even advanced players.

Look for a teacher who is experienced in playing and practicing but who is also experienced in teaching. Just because you know how to play, doesn't mean you know how to teach.

Think about why you want to play guitar. Depending on your answer to that question how much do you want to practice to achieve your goals?

What music do you want to play?
